Submit Abstract
Abstract submission deadline: 4 April 2025
Abstracts are invited on the following conference topics and should be submitted using the online abstract submission system
A condition of submission is that if the abstract is accepted the presenting authors will register for and present at the 14th Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research conference.
All authors will be listed in the conference programme. It is expected that short research papers will be presented by one speaker only (for exceptions please contact the organisers), but that other formats might require additional speakers. It is possible to identify more than one presenting author in the submission system and these authors will be highlighted in all materials except the conference app, where the first presenting author only will be listed. All presenting speakers must be registered and present at the conference in person, there will be no remote facilities.
Topics
- Conceptualizing stuttering
- Genetics and Neurophysiology
- More than speech
- Cluttering and acquired stuttering
- Advancing clinical practice through research
Abstract Submission Formats
One aim of the Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research Conference is to encourage stuttering research and to advance this aim we will be providing a high-quality scientific forum for that research.
All abstracts will be reviewed to ensure scientific rigor. Authors are requested to consider the relevance of research findings for clinical practice. Submissions with a clinical focus should consider the evidence base for the methods.
Abstract submissions are sought for the following presentation formats:
Poster
Posters may have a clinical or research focus. Please submit a 400-500 word abstract.
Short Research Paper
These presentations will be 15 minutes duration, including 5 minutes for questions (toal 20 minutes). Please submit a 400-500 word abstract summarizing the aims, methodology, results and conclusions of the research.
Discussion paper
These presentations will be 30 minutes duration, including 10 minutes for questions (total 40 minutes).
Where possible, research should be presented as a Research Paper.
However, the Committee recognizes that there will be some researchers who have a body of research, large studies, or findings that would not fit into the shorter Research Paper format. This format may also be suitable for theoretical or clinical perspectives. Please be aware that priority will be given to clinical sessions that are supported by evidence.
Please submit a 400-500 word abstract summarizing the aims and content of the session.
Seminar
There will be a small and limited number of 1-hour sessions available. The committee welcomes submissions from researchers and clinicians who have a body of work to present or who require additional time to present their content / materials. There is always greatest competition for these sessions and authors are advised to submit to other formats where possible.
Please submit a 400-500 word abstract for consideration.
ASHA CEUs will be available on select presentations. More details will follow when the programme is announced.
Please note:
Successfully submitted abstracts will be acknowledged with an electronic receipt including an abstract reference number, which should be quoted in all correspondence.
If you do not receive acknowledgement for your abstract submission or you wish to make any essential revisions to an abstract already submitted, please DO NOT RESUBMIT your abstract, as this may lead to duplication. Please contact us with details of any revisions or queries. Please quote your reference number if you have one.
Please do not email credit card information under any circumstances.
Oxford Stuttering and Cluttering Research Conference: Journal of Fluency Disorders - Call for Papers

Papers of all types are welcome. However, only studies for which complete data is available (i.e., not in progress or preliminary) will be considered for publication and authors will be required to meet the same submission criteria, complete the peer-review process and reach the standards expected for JFD publications.
